MARMOMAC 2024: PUSHING THE BOUNDERIES OF 3D PRINTING

MARMOMAC 2024: PUSHING THE BOUNDERIES OF 3D PRINTING

We are unveiling a large-scale statue printed in recycled limestone at the leading stone fair in Verona Italy.

CONCR3DE, Dutch pioneer in binder jetting 3D printing technology, is thrilled to showcase what its innovative technology can do at Marmomac, the renowned international exhibition held in the heart of Italy's natural stone industry. Taking place from September 24th to 27th, 2023 in Verona, Italy, Marmomac is one of the world's premier trade fairs dedicated to the entire stone production chain, from quarrying to finished products.

At this year's event, CONCR3DE will be presenting a remarkable sculpture created using its cutting-edge Elephant Gray Printer.

DOPPIONODO: A Knotted Column of Time
Designed by Marco Massafra and Professor Giuseppe Fallacara with the support of the Politecnico of Bari, DOPPIONODO is a stunning reinterpretation of the classical Ophitic column. This intricate sculpture features a pair of small columns joined by a "flat knot," a style that was particularly popular during the Romanesque period, embodying an immobile eternal motion.

Using the Batavia weave, a complex textile pattern, as a basis for its design, DOPPIONODO was 3D printed with Lecce limestone powder, a waste material from the Pimar company based in Melpignano, Italy. This innovative approach demonstrates the versatility of our technology and its potential for sustainable material utilization.

LITHIC MIRAGE: A Play on Illusion
Designed by Professor Dustin White of Florida Atlantic University, LITHIC MIRAGE is a mesmerizing kaleidoscopic column structure that challenges our perception of reality. This sculpture, also created with upcycled limestone powder, uses generative AI to embed a new architectural aesthetic into its surface.

LITHIC MIRAGE blurs the boundaries between the tangible and intangible, inviting viewers to question what they see. Its innovative 3D printing techniques mimic the texture and solidity of natural stone, while its unconventional materials and architectural methods push the limits of traditional sculpture.

The intricate designs of the sculpture, characterized by complex curves and interwoven elements, could only be brought to life through the additive manufacturing techniques. The use of upcycled limestone powder in the creation of the sculpture highlights how our 3D printers can contribute to a more sustainable production and manufacturing process.

CONCR3DE is committed to revolutionizing the architecture and design industry through 3D printing. You are invited to admire DOPPIONODO firsthand at the Plus Theater, Hall 10-Area Forum from September 24 to 27 in Verona.
